CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Clothed in gray jogging pants and a matching hoodie, Andreas stood across the street from the private school watching the children enter the gates in secured vehicles. Wealthy parents paid high fees to send their children here believing them to be safe and receiving a superb education.

Once, he and his sisters ran across the grounds with their friends, completely unaware of the evil lurking outside the gates. He’d been 15 when innocence was stripped from him. His sisters still didn’t know the horrors of that morning when he’d seen his father struck down by Hoed on a trumped-up charge of betrayal.

The death of his father cut the family off from the brotherhood and all assistance. They’d been tossed aside like garbage. His mother had no idea how to survive without his father and went into decline. Those had been hard, lean years. He’d taken odd jobs, kept food on their table. Being large for his age, he took on jobs that shed blood but paid well. His sisters returned to school, graduated while he worked in the shadows, learning and plotting his revenge.

Hoed had been too strong to attack. The man was merciless with no soul. So, Andreas waited. The bitter taste of vengeance denied hit the back of his tongue. He uncurled his fist and spit on the grass before walking toward his vehicle. Everything was in place. The deadline loomed ahead. Those old fools thought they’d stopped him, but he had ears in their house and would strike when they least expected.

Beskytte Frøet? Impossible.
